Terms of service

A service that organises the official, public information on taught master’s programs at Hong Kong’s eight universities. The core is free; membership is an optional paid service. Not affiliated with any university, doesn’t apply for you, and the official sites prevail. Covers accounts, membership and refunds, offer-report rules, acceptable use, intellectual property, disclaimers and changes.

Welcome to 港硕通知网 (gangshuotongzhi.com, “the site”). These terms are the agreement between you and the site’s operator (“we”) on using the site. By visiting or using the site you accept these terms; the sign-up page also asks you to read them and the privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please stop using the site.

What the site offers

The site is an information service. It organises the official, public information on taught master’s programs at Hong Kong’s eight public universities and offers:

  • a program library, a deadline calendar, filters by requirement and program comparison (free);
  • saved programs for registered users, deadline reminder emails they can switch on, and an application tracker (free; the tracker has a limit);
  • offer reports submitted voluntarily by applicants;
  • membership (paid; see Membership);
  • on-site tickets for feedback and questions.

The site is not:

  • the official website or an authorised channel of any university. We have no affiliation, partnership or agency relationship with any university and do not publish on behalf of one;
  • a study-abroad agency. We offer no application handling, essay writing, paid school-selection advice or “guaranteed admission”, and we never submit applications for you;
  • a source of admission decisions. Only the university decides whether to admit you.

Membership

Membership is an optional paid service. The program library, deadline calendar, filters, guides and offer results are free for everyone and work without it.

  • Free daily allowance: signed-out visitors and free accounts can see a limited number of program pages in full each day, as stated on the membership page; we may change that number. Past it, a program page still shows tuition, English requirements and the next deadline and hides the rest until the next day (from midnight Hong Kong time).
  • What it includes: program pages without a daily limit, deadline reminders for every saved program (a free account’s reminders cover only its earliest saved programs that are still open, as many as the membership page states), official-site change alerts, unlimited application tracking with deposit-deadline reminders, full offer backgrounds, wider program comparison and Excel export, as described on the membership page.
  • Price and payment: the price shown on the membership page applies. It is charged in Chinese yuan and paid once with Alipay or WeChat Pay through a third-party payment aggregator. Membership starts as soon as payment clears.
  • Term: 365 days from payment. It does not renew automatically, and nothing is charged when it ends. Buying again during a membership adds the new term after the current end date.
  • Refunds: within 7 days of buying, you can request a full refund through a ticket with your order number; membership ends once the refund is made. After 7 days there are no refunds, except that if membership features are unusable for a long time because of us, you can request a refund for the remaining days. Where the law provides otherwise, the law applies.
  • Codes: codes we hand out add membership days. Each account can redeem one code. Codes can’t be exchanged for cash or resold.
  • Trial: a new account can use membership features free for a number of days from sign-up, as stated on the sign-up and membership pages; we may change or stop it. The trial ends by itself and nothing is charged; if you buy during the trial, the 365 days start when the trial ends. Where one person signs up several accounts to collect trials, we may disable those accounts.
  • Changes: we may change the price or what membership includes and will say so on the membership page. A price change doesn’t affect a term you have already bought; if a main feature is removed, you can request a refund for the remaining days.
  • After it ends: your saved programs, applications and offer reports stay; applications beyond the free limit can still be viewed and edited, but no new ones added; the member parts of the reminder emails stop.
  • A membership is for your own account only; don’t share the account or transfer the membership.

Accuracy of information

  • Information on the site is taken from the universities’ websites and shows its source links and check dates; how we check it is described in Sources & verification.
  • Universities can change deadlines, fees and entry requirements or close programs at any time. Our updates may lag behind and may contain mistakes.
  • Information on the site is for reference only. Before you apply, confirm the latest details on the university’s website. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for missed deadlines, wrong materials or other losses caused by relying on the site.
  • If you find a mistake, please open a ticket; we will check and correct it as soon as we can.

Accounts

  • Browsing and searching programs need no account; saving programs, turning on deadline reminders, tracking applications, posting reports, buying membership and opening tickets do. The full background in offer reports is shown to members and to people who have posted a report.
  • Sign up with an email address you can receive mail at; don’t impersonate anyone and don’t create accounts in bulk.
  • Keep your password safe. Actions taken with your account count as yours; if you think someone else is using it, open a ticket as soon as possible.
  • We may restrict or suspend accounts that break these terms.

Offer report rules

What you may post

  • Only your own real application results and background;
  • Accurate details — no exaggeration and nothing made up;
  • One report per program and entry year; submitting again replaces the earlier one.

What you may not post

  • Made-up results, or someone else’s results;
  • Anyone’s name, contact details, student number, ID number, photo or other personal information — including your own contact details;
  • Advertising, agency referrals, QR codes, links or other promotion;
  • Insulting, discriminatory or harassing content, or anything unlawful.

Moderation

Reports are published as soon as they are submitted: the program, result and undergraduate tier are visible to every visitor, while the university name, GPA, test scores and the rest of the background are shown only to members and to people who have posted a report. We don’t verify each one, but we act on reports of abuse: admins can hide or delete reports that break these rules and, in serious cases, suspend the account. A report reflects only its poster’s own experience; we don’t guarantee that it is true or accurate.

The licence you give us

Your report remains yours. By submitting it, you allow the site, free of charge and non-exclusively, to display it on the site (the offer reports page and the program’s page) and to count it anonymously in statistics (such as the number of each result). When you delete a report, we stop showing it and the statistics update accordingly. How reports are displayed and the privacy settings are described in the privacy policy.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to search and read the site, share links to its pages, or quote small parts with a credit. When using the site, please don’t:

  • scrape, copy or mirror the site’s data in bulk with crawlers, scripts or other automated means, or access it at a rate clearly beyond normal browsing;
  • attack the site, probe for or exploit vulnerabilities, get around access limits, or disrupt its normal operation;
  • create accounts in bulk, or fake offer reports or traffic;
  • impersonate the site or a university, or use the site for anything unlawful.

We may rate-limit or block abnormal traffic and suspend the accounts involved.

Intellectual property

  • Program information is compiled from pages the universities publish themselves; rights in the original content belong to the universities. We link to the sources so you can read the originals.
  • University names, crests and logos are the universities’ trademarks or marks. We use them only to identify each university; this doesn’t imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them.
  • The site’s design, interface, explanatory text, the way the data is organised and presented, and the site’s name and logo belong to the site’s operator. When quoting the site, please credit it with a link; copying it wholesale or using it commercially needs our permission.

The site links to university websites and other third-party sites. We don’t control them; their own terms and privacy practices apply.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

  • The site is provided “as is”. We don’t guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the information is complete and up to date.
  • To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from using or being unable to use the site, including missed application deadlines, disappointing application results, or decisions made on the basis of information on the site.
  • Deadline, change and deposit reminder emails are only an aid: they may not arrive, or may be wrong, because of a service failure, a spam filter, a change of date by the university or an update we haven’t made yet. Change alerts cover what we find when we update our data, not necessarily every change a university makes. Keep track of your deadlines yourself; the university’s website prevails.
  • Offer reports and other user content are the responsibility of the people who post them and don’t represent our views.

Changes to the service and termination

  • We may add, change, pause or stop features; major changes will be announced on the site.
  • You can stop using the site at any time; to delete your account, open a ticket (see the privacy policy).
  • If you break these terms, we may remove the content involved and restrict or suspend your account.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and announce important changes on the site beforehand. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the updated terms.
